To Moms of Adult Children with Disabilities

To the moms who have adult children who are disabled. Let me acknowledge you. I see you, you are not forgotten. Out friends are celebrating empty nest, university degrees, marriages and becoming grandparents. We don’t have those milestones to look forward to. We continue to provide for their every need and never complain. And we don’t complain because we have a secret that many people don’t understand. Their lives are so fragile and precious and most often hanging in the balance. So instead we learn to cherish the days and hours that they are with us. Although our bodies, minds and spirits are worn out we still put 100 percent of our time and energy to make sure their needs are cared for . And although it’s not our choice we would not have it any other way. because they are – ours.
